For over 15 years,

Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR)

firefighters and paramedics have been underpaid, overworked, and stretched dangerously thin.

While surrounding counties have increased funding for fire rescue services, BCFR has struggled with staffing shortages, pay disparities, and increased emergency call volumes.

“We the People” are launching this GoFundMe to raise awareness and educate the community about the critical role BCFR plays in public safety—and why their funding must be a priority.

The Reality BCFR Faces Every Day:

✔ 120+ firefighters have left BCFR in 2024 alone due to lower wages, rising costs of living, and long hours of mandatory overtime, NO KELLY DAYS.(

✔ Firefighter/paramedic pay in Brevard County is 25-30% lower than in neighboring counties, making retention and recruitment extremely difficult.

✔ Longer response times put lives at risk as BCFR struggles to stay fully staffed.

✔ BCFR provides EMS transport for the entire county—city fire departments do not transport patients to hospitals.

✔ Despite increased county revenue, BCFR funding has not kept pace with the rising demands on emergency services.

Our Mission: Fund Awareness Billboards & Community Outreach

This campaign is about education and advocacy.

The Brevard County Community deserves to know the challenges BCFR is facing—and how it affects every single resident who depends on rapid emergency response.

We are raising funds to place billboards across Brevard County to:

✔ Educate residents on the staffing crisis and its impact on public safety.

✔ Encourage community support for BCFR firefighters and paramedics.

✔ Call for responsible funding decisions that prioritize emergency response services.
