Can you help us stop a nuclear waste dump coming to Northwestern Ontario?
We need your help now to get the word out to those who live in and care about Northwestern Ontario that a decision to bury radioactive wastes here could be made as early as 2022 and a federal approvals process could be underway as early as 2023.
Ten years ago, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization began a search for a location to bury all of Canada’s high-level nuclear fuel waste; in particular, they were looking for a location where they could claim some semblance of local support. Earlier this year, the NWMO announced that they had shortened their list to just two possible locations. One of them, the Revell Lake area, is between Ignace and Dryden, in the heart of Northwestern Ontario and Treaty 3 Territory.
OUR FUNDRAISING GOALS: Within sixty days of issuing this funding appeal we aim to raise $5,000. With this, we will send 10,000 postcards directly to the residents of Kenora District, launch a social media campaign to reach all residents of northwestern Ontario, create a dedicated web site, and host a series of online speakers and workshops.

We the Nuclear Free North is a recently formed alliance of people and groups against the proposed deep geological repository for nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario. We oppose the transport, burial and abandonment of the wastes in our northern watersheds. We seek to engage the public in a discussion of the risks of this proposal. We demand transparency from agencies responsible for the production and management of such waste. We invite you to join us. Future generations rely on us!
