The Rooted in the Work Foundation exists to expand Information, Imagination, and Power within communities that have historically experienced barriers to opportunity, belonging, leadership, and investment. Through education, leadership development, relationship-building, and community investment, the Foundation seeks to increase individual and collective capacity to create meaningful social, economic, cultural, and civic change.
We envision a world where every person has access to the Information, Imagination, and Power needed to live a self-determined life. We believe communities are strongest when people are equipped to lead, create, build, and care for one another. We imagine a future where veterans, people impacted by incarceration, people living with disabilities, people impacted by HIV and AIDS, and other historically marginalized communities are not defined by systems of exclusion but are recognized as leaders, innovators, artists, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and visionaries. We work toward a future where resources are shared, opportunities are accessible, leadership is cultivated, and freedom is not reserved for a privileged few but available to all.
Our first fundraising goal is $5,000 to complete the legal formation of the foundation, including nonprofit incorporation, filing fees, compliance requirements, and the infrastructure needed to begin accepting donations and operating sustainably.
This first step will allow us to establish the organization properly and begin building the programs, partnerships, and community initiatives that will serve our mission for years to come. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps move this vision from an idea into a lasting institution.
If you've ever believed that people impacted by systemic harm deserve more opportunities, stronger communities, and greater access to the relationships and resources that help them succeed, we invite you to help us build this foundation from the ground up.
Thank you for believing in what's possible.
