My wife, Lindsay, and I aren’t great at asking for help, but over the last few years we’ve learned that sometimes a little support can make a big difference.

Almost three years ago, we made the decision to take in our nieces and nephews—kids we love deeply—who were at risk of entering the foster system. Our intention was to give them a safe and stable home temporarily while their parents worked to get back on their feet. It became clear very quickly that this wouldn’t be temporary. These kids needed long-term stability, consistency, and love, and we committed to giving them exactly that.

Since then, we’ve received no financial support from the parents, but we’ve done everything we can to make sure the kids are healthy, supported, and thriving. As they grow, though, the financial needs grow right along with them.

Several of the kids need braces, and multiplied by five children, the cost becomes significant. Sports and activities—things that are so important for their development and confidence—also come with fees and equipment expenses. One of the kids, Junior, has been excelling in robotics, and we would love to send him to competitions that could truly help him shine, but those opportunities aren’t free either.

And of course, anyone raising kids knows how fast they grow—new school clothes bought at the beginning of the year don’t always make it to the end of the season.

We’ve been doing everything we can to provide for them, but at this point we could use a little help. Any contribution, no matter how small, goes directly toward giving these kids the opportunities, care, and stability they deserve.
