WE NEED BLEED KITS

Donation protected
Hackney Wick FC vs London Fire Brigade FC
Charity Football Match

The purpose of this charity football match is to help raise funds for public access bleed control cabinets (containing bleed control kits and automated external defibrillators) to be placed outside fire stations in London. Bleed control cabinet, installation and its contents including defib outside a fire station costs £1,600 per station (manufactured by Turtle). There will be an intermittent maintenance charge for repairs, replacement pads and batteries, and bleed kit contents that expire.

The kit contains specialist equipment to help stem extreme blood loss before ambulance crews arrive. The pack is lightweight and in a high visibility red colour. It is housed in a bleed control cabinet, so it is available and accessible 24/7.

A bleed control kit can be used to stem a catastrophic bleed in any situation, including a stabbing, severe injury at work, car accident or a car vs pedestrian incident, a heavy fall, or several other different situations.

Bleed control kits contain the following contents:
· A Tourniquet (Used to stop major blood loss from a limb)
· A vented chest seal (Used to cover a penetrating chest injury)
· A Haemostatic dressing (Used to pack a wound to assist in clotting blood)
· A trauma dressing (Used to cover wounds)
· Scissors (To cut clothing to expose the wound)
· A foil blanket (Used to keep the casualty warm)
· Gloves (To minimize cross contamination)
· A light stick
· A pen (To record timings of Tourniquet application and information gathering)

Knife violence has fast become an epidemic across London destroying lives and fracturing communities. Knife violence disproportionately consumes the lives of the young in London and communities who face inequalities in outcomes, including Black and Ethnic minorities.
Bobby Kasanga founded Hackney Wick Football Club in 2015; Hackney’s first ever semi-professional football club in nearly a century.
Hackney Wick FC are not your regular football club, as their ethos is based on community engagement, uniting the local diverse groups, as well as battling peer pressure and tackling gang influences.
The club engage 160 youths and 70 adults through their training, fitness, and football matches. (16 youth teams plus sessions for children with additional needs as well as 2 adult teams). We do this by offering educational workshops, sporting opportunities, mentoring and access to work opportunities, which actively engage with those already involved in gangs, or those on-the-brink of gang life, and those who might not be aware of the threats out there (as a safeguarding tool).
For this charity match, Bobby Kasanga will be recruiting high profile personalities to play for his Hackney Wick football club including sponsors.
