On Thursday, February 19, our family lost everything we once called home due to the devastating heavy rains in Arequipa, Peru. A powerful torrent of water mixed with rocks and mud entered our house, flooding it completely and destroying all that we had built over the years.

Today, we are facing the painful reality of starting over from nothing—without a safe place to live—while the rains are expected to continue due to the effects of El Niño.
