Hi Friends, We are Sri Lanka SOS team with a few ladies in Sri Lanka, associated with a past pupil charity association . Our motherland is in crisis and needs dollars to keep the country from declaring bankruptcy. The situation has directly impacted the sick and the needy, where the cost of medicine has exponentially increased. The public hospitals have stopped distributing medicine either due to shortages or inability to access funding and the vulnerable being compelled to buy the drugs from private sources. Most can't afford the cost, resulting in critical or chronic patients not getting their regular treatments.
This charity consists of past pupils of a leading school in Sri Lanka and will work to ensure funds are directed to the right cause. The group consists of three doctors working in government hospitals who has kindly volunteered to direct patients who has financial hardship.
Doctors prescribes medicine to patients and in most instances due to the current shortage the medicine has to be bought from private chemists or medical tests has to be done through private hospitals due to the long wait through the public system. Any patient where such purchase is tough due to financial circumstances will be directed to contact the team administering the fund which is associated with the past pupils group. The funds collected in AUD will be transferred to a Commercial Bank SLRupee account from the AUD account in Australia to enable the dollar to flow into the country. The funds will be released either to the patient's account or to the pharmacy directly. This enables the most vulnerable patients at a grassroot level to get their daily medication or medical tests.
This is an independent account that has been set up to finance similar charity projects and the account will be used for this purpose. The team administering the fund which consists of three compassionate ladies has assured the transparency and accountability of the fund and also the money to be given to the most needed. Also the team has agreed to provide a monthly history of the prescriptions funded that will be shared regularly with the donors.
Any small or large contribution will support the country and the most vulnerable who are impacted by the crisis.
