1 in 700 people are born with a cleft lip. CLAPA's main functions are: Working to improve cleft care in the UK by representing the needs of people affected by cleft. Creating a UK-wide 'cleft community' of people with and affected by the condition to provide mutual support. At our 20 week scan the sonographer identified that our baby had a cleft lip. At 4 months old Trudy was operated on to repair her bilateral cleft.
As Trudy has grown and realised her differences CLAPA has been there to support her and has offered wonderful resources to support her. In 2026 we are fundraising for this charity to ensure that they can continue to help families like ours.
