ENGLISH:

Hello Everyone,

I am reaching out to you today in hopes that you can help me fulfill a promise that I made to my colleagues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo just a few short months ago. I swore that I would continue to stand by their side and help them in any way possible, even if I was not there on the ground to work with them directly.

I'm starting this fundraiser in order to help build a sanctuary community for orphans and victims of sexual violence in the war torn region of Beni, in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This region has been plagued by genocide and famine for the past few decades; however, recent fighting in the area has dramatically intensified and killings have all but skyrocketed. This is one of the worlds deadliest and most under-reported conflicts, yet I refuse to sit idly by knowing full well that we can have a roll to play in changing these peoples lives.

I want to thank you in advance for your generosity. You have my word that your money will be going to a noble and just cause. God bless you all and happy holidays!

Sincerely,

Nico Fesser

“We are focusing hard and sacrificing a lot so that this disease may leave our population… With regards to the insecurity we are always mourning as we are being attacked daily. Every single day the ADF, the rebels that come from Uganda, come to Beni to kill our people… we are dying here like chickens. Every day they slit our throats like beasts. It’s seriously inhumane what we’re going through here in the Congo. Since you’ve been here and you’ve lived with us, you’ve seen everything that’s happening here and so you are our ambassador. You can tell everyone what’s happening in the Congo, specifically here in Beni. I think that after you tell people what’s happening we will receive some relief.”
