The 2020 WBI U.S. Workplace Bullying Survey

The Tradition

Abused and bullied workers rely on the Workplace Bullying Institute (WBI) to confirm they are not crazy or worthless. The WBI national scientific prevalence surveys provide the statistical proof of their sanity. Workplace bullying in the U.S. is an epidemic! Past surveys in 2007  , 2010 , 2014,  and 2017  provide the proof.  Follow the links to see past survey results.

Survey results are key to convincing state lawmakers of the need for new laws and the national support behind the movement. The WBI national survey results are the most-cited findings by media regarding workplace bullying.

Finally, prevalence statistics convince non-believers who want to deny that abusive conduct destroys the careers, health and families of its victims.  It happens and it hurts! Work shouldn't hurt! Workplace abuse is the only form of abuse not yet taboo in America.

In the Trump era, we need to assess the effect his malevolence has on our already aggressive, pro-bullying American society. Specifically, when civility rules are abandoned at the highest political level,  do employers react to the loosening with even more bullying of workers without fear of consequences?

Some pollsters charge $100,000 for this project. WBI enjoys a special relationship with a polling firm that samples adult Americans for us for a fraction of that fee.

Our History & Work

We, Drs. Ruth and Gary Namie , are WBI founders. June 2020 marks WBI's 23rd anniversary. We've written the books -- for bullied individuals and for employers. The WBI website is chock full of advice for targeted people and their families counter the tsunami that bullying brings to their lives.

Besides the periodic national surveys, WBI lobbies for enactment of the anti-bullying Healthy Workplace Bill . The first legislation of its kind aimed at adult victims.

We have over 200 videos on the WBI YouTube Channel . Have a look.

The third week of October is WBI's Freedom From Workplace Bullies Week .
