My name is Wael and I currently live and work in Vancouver. I am raising $20,000 to help my two younger sisters who recently arrived in Canada and are seeking asylum. This amount will cover their qualification equivalency exams so they can be licensed to work in their fields (Medicine and Dentistry) in Canada. These exams alone are $15,000 (for both sisters). Other funds will go towards remaining legal fees for their asylum case, tuition fees and basic living expenses while they get on their feet.

I left Syria during the war when I was 16, leaving behind my family, including my parents and my two younger sisters. I left for the possibility of pursuing a better life and to be able to support my family back home. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. For years, our lives unfolded through phone screens and video calls. They endured the war, the instability, and the heartbreak that came with it. Even today, despite changes in the regime, Syria remains unsafe—marked by unrest, violence, and ongoing Isr*eli bombardments.

My sisters and I finally reunited in July. One is a doctor working toward her dream of completing a medical residency, and the other is a dentist preparing for the rigorous exams needed to practice in Canada. They are two of the smartest, most determined people I know, and all they want is the chance to live, study, and work in peace.

After consulting with an immigration lawyer, the safest and most stable path for them to stay in Canada is to seek asylum. Even after their asylum case gets approved (hopefully), they will still need to be able to support themselves and pursue their dreams. In order to live and work here, they need to do their qualification equivalency exams which are incredibly costly. The amount I’m raising will help them settle, fund their studies, and build new lives without the constant fear of returning to danger and giving up their dreams.

I missed so many moments as my sisters were growing up. Your help means I can finally be there for them as they become the amazing women I’ve always known they would be.

Thank you for reading, and for any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Every bit of help truly makes a difference.

My sisters have asked to remain anonymous and I wish to respect their privacy while they build a new life here.
