WaterPlus: transforming Communities with water

Donation protected
The Odenaansan Uganda team is to travel to the community (Agereger village) to launch the Water Plus project.

Agereger Village is a small community in Uganda, East Africa, here the burden of household responsibilities falls heavily on women and children who must trek over two hours daily to fetch water for domestic use.

WaterPlus project will drill solar-powered water pumps in this village to aid water availability and ease access. Having ease of access to water will spur community development through agriculture thereby improving livelihood and food security.

Odenaansan Uganda seeks support for the team in Uganda to travel to the community where they will meet the village leadership and sign an MoU to kickstart the eagerly anticipated Water-Plus project.

Currently the women walk two hours each day to collect water from swamp wells. This unsafe water is susceptible to waterborne diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea etc. Waterplus will provide a source of clean water by providing tremendous public health benefits in preventing these diseases..

The amount needed for this first trip is CDN $25OO.

Members of Odenaansan Uganda need to travel from Kampala to Agereger village in Amuria district, Uganda to meet with the elders and leaders to formalise our working relationship which will allow Odenaansan to engage in Fundraising for Water Plus.

The Water Plus Project is estimated to cost USD 182,450, this will need to be confirmed by the community. A memorandum of understanding will also be signed between the Odenaansan team and Fidelitas
Scientific Execution Facility, an NGO that will receive funds.

Summary:
During covid, a member of The Odenaansan Project was guided to engage with people in Uganda. An unusual coincidence brought him digitally to
Agereger. Working with John Odolon, (headman of his clan and an expert in water projects) an elder in the traditional government, they have collaborated to develop.

Water Plus (He and the founder of Odenaansan agreed to explore how the ICD approach works in Africa, the global south, as opposed to developed country), a community infrastructure project which will be a catalyst for broader community development.

The water plus project has been in development for the last two years. In order to launch it, the team needs to undertake a pilot study as well as a fact finding mission to Agereger village.
