Water Wells Sadaqah Jariyah for Our Parents

Showing kindness to your parents, does not cease once they have past away. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessing be upon him, said:

"When a man dies all his good deeds come to an end except three: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous son who prays for him." Thus one manner in which one can express dutifulness to our parents after their death is through Sadaqah Jariyah.

Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water. Two lessons can be derived from this, the first being that we are encouraged to give Sadaqah Jariyah on behalf of a deceased loved one and the second being that water is the best form of Sadaqah Jariyah. Thus we have decided to build wells as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah for our parents.

Our parents instilled the act of giving Sadaqah in us from a young age; throughout their lifetime we would witness them helping the less fortunate frequently. May Allah SWT accept it from them, this encouraged us to continue their compassionate legacy and build a well in their honour. We are raising funds to build two separate wells in Somalia, to provide clean water for drinking, cleaning, and to keep livestock hydrated.

Any excess funds will be used towards other forms of Sadaqah Jariyah.

May Allah SWT accept this as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah, and may Allah SWT widen our parents grave and grant them Jannah Firdous. Ameen
