Water IS Life…help me get it flowing again!

Sadly, because of a long drought, death is everywhere in Loita Hills, Kenya.

My name is Marilyn Parver, I am hoping to raise $11k to pay for the cleaning and repairs of the solar well we built in 2014.

In 2012, I moved in with my longtime safari guide, Wilson Lolpapit, and his family in Loita Hills.
My goal was to help the community by raising funds for solar lights for school kids and building a deep fresh water solar well!
By 2014, just as a draught hit Kenya, we had raised the funds to complete both projects.

The drilling for the borehole took many days because we had to go through the thick orange mud called “sticky” dirt, which gooped up the drill.
The drillers often had to stop to clean off the equipment.

Clean water was found at 95 meters. The borehole went down another 20 meters for long stability!!
Our flow rate of the water was 15,000 liters per hour!!
It was a complete success!

However, the drought in Kenya has now lasted over a decade and those years of heavy use thru thick mud, have worn out the pump and other vital parts.
Until now, Wilson has done the minor repairs himself at his own expense.
But now the problems have exceeded his skill level.

I paid to have a respected reliable water company, out of Narok, to come and inspect the well and be sure we still have plenty of water,

The water company we hired, Davis and Shirtliff, issued a clear report, which said that there's plenty of water in the borehole, the water level is at 44m.and it has a depth of 100m.
The only negative is that the lining of the borehole is very muddy and will require cleaning.
That was wonderful news, except I do not have the finances to pay for the necessary repairs alone.

The report went on to explain that the mud had added strain to the machinery and caused damage and disrepair to the system.
I have obtained an itemized list of the repairs needed and Wilson has negotiated a fair price for cleaning the pipes and adding flashing to help prevent a recurrence.
Wilson will be on site and will see to it that all services promised are performed properly.

If we have the good fortune to reach our goal, Wilson will have the well up and running in short order
And, if we go over our goal, I would like to gift Wilson with the funds to reimburse him for the costs of maintaining the well in the past and additional funds will be held in an account for future maintenance.

I have lived in Loita Hills during the drought and it is painful for every living thing… people, animals and vegetation!
Life dies!
I hate to think that all of our hard work will be wasted!
I know, with your help, we can bring relief… at least to this wonderful community in Loita Hills, Kenya but this time, I don’t have years to reach my goal. I need help now!
Please!
