Help bring clean water to the people of Jambiani
I recently volunteered with African Impact in Jambiani, Tanzania. While I was in Jambiani I was conscious that the impact I could make would be short lived and was keen to learn the day to day challenges within the Jambiani community. One of the main struggles they face is the water supply to the village. Zanzibar has had a boom in tourism which is great for providing local jobs but has put a strain on supplies on the island. There are now many large hotels on the island that take the majority of the water supply. This leaves the village with little water per house hold and at times no water at all. When the water runs out that’s it! Locals can go days without water and have to travel long distances to collect water for their families. This impacts over 6,000 people who live in the village. Water is a fundamental human need. Lack of access to clean water can have many effects Impacting health, education, income and quality of life.
What is the solution?
To build new piping infrastructure from a nearby cave that will attach to a water tank where only the villages will have access. It is a clean water source that will be around for at least 50 years based off the cave water source.
Jambiani community leaders are working tirelessly to make this happen and have made significant progress advocating the government, water corporation and their own fundraising initiatives however they still require substantial funding to make this a reality. This project is something I am passionate about and I am confident that any donations raised will be going towards something sustainable and life changing for this beautiful community. Every dollar counts and would mean so much if you could offer your support. No donation is too small but if you want to dig deep please do ;)
Below are some photos taken in Jambiani of the community you will be supporting. We often take the basic needs like having clean water everyday for granted. Something that may be so small to us will make a big difference to their lives.
If you want to learn more I have added some extra information about the current problem and plan to bring a sustainable water supply to the village.

If you have any questions or would like further information on other ways you can help please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks
