I'm writing this message from Asuncion, Paraguay. Over the past week, I've been doing a story on wild Yerba Mate farming on the border of Paraguay and Argentina. After we had wrapped production and we were on our way back to our house, my contact suggested that we stop at one final farm. Even though I was exhausted, and it really wasn't needed... I agreed.
I'm glad I did.
I discovered a community living without access to running water. They were collecting their water from a neighboring farm, holding livestock. A creek filled with debris and likely parasites. I knew why we had stopped at that village: it was because I had a camera, a tool, a means to share their story with the outside world. So now, here we are, banding together to change the lives of dozens of farmers in this community, giving them safe, clean drinking water for generations to come.
