WHY I'M DOING THIS AND HOW IT STARTED:
My name is Sofi, and I need your help!
Before Covid happened, I was leading tour groups through Guatemala and we would do a homestay in a local indigenous community called San Jorge la Laguna, in Lake Atitlan.
In an effort to help them have access to an unlimited supply of clean water and to cut down on their use of plastic bottles (which is a huge problem in the area!), we started a personal initiative where we would donate a filtering unit (Ecofiltro) to one of the families whenever we would come through. We would also bring the filter replacements whenever the time would come, since each filter is good for up to 2 years. So far, we had managed to donate to all of our homestay families, then to the school, church and fire department! We were doing great!
But all of a sudden Covid hit, and our operations came to a complete stop so we haven't been able to revisit the community and there are 18 filters that need to be replaced ASAP because they are about to expire!!!
Soooo this is where YOU come in!
Help me buy the 18 filter replacements (27UDS each) and get them to the community... pretty please! Now, I know Covid has hit a lot of us very hard, especially in our pockets but any little bit helps into making sure that our friends in San Jorge can keep having access to clean, plastic free water!

Hopefully we can go back on the road soon enough and continue with our efforts to get a unit to all the families in the community.
