Water Bottle Filling Station for Tega Cay Trail

Due to many maintenance issues and finally breaking, the water fountain on the Tega Cay trail was removed. Many residents would like a new water fountain installed along Tega Cay Drive. To honor the history of the original water fountain, I am trying to fund a new water bottle filling station with donations. A water bottle filling station will help with maintenance and avoid many issues we encountered with a standard water fountain. The cost of a new water bottle filling station is $1500. Any additional money will be used to fund additional water bottle filling stations.

A little history behind the people/dog water fountain on the Tega Cay peninsula trail. My family has lived in Tega Cay since 1997. My dad, Karl Blum, walked the trail every day. He loved the Tega Cay trail. As many of us feel, the trail provided my dad with exercise and friendship with all of the wonderful walkers, runners, strollers, adults, children and dogs. My dad walked everyday-rain or shine, in sweltering heat or freezing cold weather. He believed it was the best thing in Tega Cay. Whenever he walked, he always had one of my sons and dogs with him. Mornings on the trail provided my boys with many wonderful memories and life lessons with their grandfather.

My dad passed away from melanoma in 2010. We felt that the best tribute to him would be some type of improvement to the trail. In cooperation with our great city, my family and friends donated the funds for the original fountain.

Over the years, so many friends and strangers have shared with me how much they have loved being able to have a drink of water on those hot summer days. It truly was a great addition to our peninsula. It also represented the best parts of Tega Cay-The Good Life-Family, friends and a spectacular life!
