If you feel our government and society could be improved and would like to do something about it, here is a way you can help me make a change:
I am planning a trip to Washington DC this month for 11 days with another Delphian high school student to do a community outreach project. We will be working with Delphian alumna Erica Rodgers who is the Campaign Coordinator for Youth For Human Rights in Washington DC.
We will be introducing basic human rights education curriculum to government officials (both from Congress and from embassies of other countries) as a solution to end human rights violations such as human trafficking, racism, police brutality, bullying, poverty, war and gang violence. The Youth For Human Rights curriculum is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was adopted by the United Nations in 1948.
The work I'll be doing on this trip is a way I can help promote change I would like to see in the world. It will also be a valuable learning experience in how to bring attention to social issues I am passionate about and how I can effectively communicate my ideas to government representatives.
I need to raise $1450 to cover the expenses of this trip. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, you can also help by sharing this GoFundMe page with others.
(If I happen to be lucky enough to go beyond my goal, any additional funds will be donated to the Youth For Human Rights organization.)
I will post updates and photos during my trip to this page so you can follow my progress.
Thank you!
Quinn Bennett
