There are some people who are making a real difference in this world and these young people from Arlee, MT are among the best. It takes immense courage to rise up and speak out about mental health and suicide. I saw this video (attached to this webpage) and was so impressed and touched by these young men and women that I knew I had to help. I am a small boatbuilder in Montana. Some of my family is from the Flathead Reservation. I want to give these kids a boat.

My goal is to raise enough money to donate a custom wooden boat to these kids in the hope that it helps support their Warrior Movement by providing a way to get out on their home waters, the Flathead River. I believe we can accomplish this with my seed money and labor donated and an acquisition for $15,000. I hope it may enable me to build future vessels in whole to donate, but I want to do this by the summer of 2019!
Those of us who float down our beautiful Montana rivers know how it can lift the burden from our shoulders and provide a respite from life’s pressures. There is simply nothing like being outside, on the water, and I hope it may help anybody that needs it, but particularly those members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes on the Flathead Reservation. All donations will go directly to funding the purchase of a boat to be donated directly to the Warrior Movement via RiseUpMontana and any additional funds will be donated directly to the Warrior Movement.
In a perfect world we could build this to have on the water programs throughout Montana, so that people who may otherwise not be able to get out on the water can do so, and thereby get a view of how good life can be. Perhaps a revival of the traditions of tribal boat building will happen. But if not we will have a start, a one boat fleet…. Will you help?
