Warner Park Pool fundraiser for chaise lounges
Donation protected
One of our quieter yet heavily used jewels of Chattanooga that has been a part of our history for over 100 years is the Warner Park Pool. It is a busy place that hosts various team swim practices in the morning (as well as meets), swim lessons, lifeguard instructions for the city’s network of public and private pools, lap swim and just plain recreational swim every day throughout summer. It is a watering hole where every stripe and shape of person comes to relax and have fun. And at the cost of $3 a day, it is the best deal anywhere. There is a “spray and play” water park for little ones (though I’ve seen adults play too), and giant inflatables so the bigger kids can challenge themselves in the deep end. The place is a hub of activity all day, every day. Even the last day of the swim year the pool is opened to a doggie dip.
Last summer when I did lap swim during my lunch break, I’d ask one of my daughters to join knowing they always like to tan by a pool. But when there, we realized there were no lounge chairs or grassy areas inside the fence to just lie down. There were picnic tables and stadium seating, but no real deck or lounge chairs. When I asked the director of the pool about it, she said that the budget simply went to other, more necessary things. I told her we need lounge chairs, and she said go get them. So let’s do 2 things here together: raise enough money to purchase a dozen chaise lounges (there’s plenty of deck space for them), and make a point to get down there for a visit. Come see what our city has to offer. And come lounge in chaise that you helped purchase. I would appreciate your help with a small chip to raise $5,500 and help make our city even more inviting. I'll also try to arrange a party at the pool for all who give.
