Winter Warming for All DSM Residents - BLM & DMMA

The DSM Rent Relief Fund is raising money for this season's round of community grants, focused on keeping all residents of Des Moines warm and safe this winter.

 

We're seeking to raise $20,000 to be split 50-50, with $10,000 going to community grants for housed community residents for utility bills, to be disbursed by the DSM Rent Relief, Fund and $10,000 going to Des Moines Mutual Aid (DMMA) to buy propane to heat unhoused residents' tents.

 

250,000 Iowans have difficulty their utility, bills every year, with winter being the most difficult period, and the fight to stay warm is literally a life-and-death struggle for Des Moines' houseless residents. DSM BLM Rent Relief Fund and DMMA are committed to doing our part to keep the community, housed and unhoused, warm this winter.

 

The Rent Relief Fund has helped 165 Polk County renters with rent, utility, and other bills since August of 2020. We now operate on a quarterly fundraiser/grant disbursement system. We can also accept contributions through these platforms:

Des Moines Mutual Aid has been serving houseless residents in the metro since Summer 2019, and started our propane distribution last year. We deliver propane tanks directly to some 100 houseless residents every week. We can also accept contributions through these platforms:
