Update: we found a contractor that will do a switch out a furnace for her for $1,000. We are really close to the goal!!!

Close your eyes and imagine the phone call I received today. Ms. Georgie, an 86-year-old neighbor, knows I work in the community and take helping others very seriously. She called… her voice cracking. She was distraught, saying her furnace had gone out and a recognized known HVAC company informed her the furnace needs replacing to the tune of $7,000. We were just hit with 10 inches of snow. The windchill is -14 degrees. She applied for financing but was denied due to her not using any credit since the year 2000. They suggested a co-signer. She’s alone with little to no family, trying to maintain her independence. She says, can you help me? Can you help me find someone to help me? So I put on my super cape and asked for referrals from my Justice League of Facebook friends and family. It was suggested since time is of the essence, let’s donate to Ms. Georgie’s cause. I mean, 4 years shy of 90, she can be our grandmother, aunt… our neighbor. With that said, I am simply asking for a minimum donation of $10 towards getting this senior stable and able to stay in her home. Her furnace was not repaired as the company said the risk of carbon monoxide is too great. She’s using space heaters just to keep warm, which we know won’t heat her whole house. So please know whatever is collected will go directly to benefit Ms. Georgie to restore her heating.

We found another hvac contractor going out tomorrow to give a 2nd opinion and is willing to work with Ms. Georgie.

As I put my money where my mouth is… I’m donating the first $100.
