What's up LinkedIn fam - I'd like your help buying jackets for roughly 200 folks currently living on the streets in my immediate community. Not across the river or down the highway, but right here in my neighborhood. As we enter into the coldest parts of winter over the next few weeks and months following, staying warm and dry will be crucial for their health and safety.
This is an incredibly personal subject for me as my brother was homeless for nearly 20 years and I was constantly wondering:
"is he safe?"
"is he warm?"
"is he dry"
and while I could never really solve the safety piece for him, I always made sure he was warm and dry. This project/campaign is a way to honor his life and restore some sense of warmth and dignity to those on the streets.
My ask to you is two-fold and simple:
1) would you give $25? This will buy a jacket
2) would you share my post or this link to your network?
I know this is a season of layoffs and hardship for many, but I also know that many of us are in a place where we want to give, have the ability to give and often do nothing about it. Not because we don't care, but we don't know what to do or where to start. Let this be your starting point.
My goal is $2,500 with a stretch goal of $5,000 and I will close the gap if we're unable to meet it.
I'll be updating the page every few days and will be posting receipts here as well for transparency and trust.
