Ward 1 DC Mutual Aid podcast

The power of storytelling cannot be denied.

Over the course of the last 10 months, the mutual aid organizing that has taken place in DC has been transformative. When the state did not meet the needs of our most communities, neighbors rose up to take care of each other and keep each other safe - and through this deep organizing, so many beautiful stories have been shown to us.

Ward 1 is just one small nook of DC and we are so proud of the building we are doing in our corner of the city, and along side the rest of the DC Mutual Aid Network. We are also aware that storytelling has been part of our journey and we want to grow our ability to share some of the incredible stories that we have been honored to hear.

Stories reveal ourselves. They connect our joys and pains. They bring humanity to our struggles and force us to wrestle with histories in powerful ways.

Because we are committed to making these stories accessible and providing a space for our neighbors to share their journeys, Ward 1 Mutual Aid will be launching a podcast in 2021! Please help us reach our goal to get started. The podcast will feature many folks in our community - Black DC elders, artists, youth organizers, street vendors, parents, educators, small business owners, public housing residents and so much more! Help us make this dream project a reality.

Funds raised will go towards purchasing podcast equipment & providing stipends for our storytellers.
