Wallingford Workcamp 2026 Construction Materials Fund

General Information:
From June 28 - July 4, 2026, around 200 church youth group members and volunteers from across the country will arrive in Wallingford, Connecticut to participate in Wallingford Workcamp. WWC is a community-wide effort that culminates in a one week gathering of campers who will perform hands on home repair projects for qualifying homeowners, which include: the elderly, low-income, disabled, and/or veterans in the Wallingford area at no cost to the homeowner.

The First Congregational Church of Wallingford is co-sponsoring the Wallingford Workcamp alongside Group Mission Trips and is organizing the Wallingford Workcamp Team, which will be comprised of volunteers, businesses and churches in the Wallingford area. As with any undertaking of this magnitude, there are also financial needs. The Wallingford Workcamp Team is obligated to raise a minimum of $27,000 by May 1, 2026, which will be used to purchase construction materials.

An Overview:
During the Wallingford Workcamp, repairs will be completed on approximately 25-30 homes in the area. The work will range from deck repairs to construction of wheelchair ramps to interior/exterior painting. Resident homeowners have submit applications for consideration by the Wallingford Workcamp Team. Projects will be assessed based on the nature of the work as well as the applicant’s need. In addition to the home repair work, the resident homeowners often benefit from exposure to community focused youth.

With all of the campers housed at Sheehan High School during the week of Wallingford Workcamp, the Town of Wallingford will take advantage of the event to test its Emergency Preparedness Plan as the high school would serve as a shelter in the event of an emergency. As such, not only will the community benefit from the repair work completed but also from the critical testing to be completed. In addition, there will be an economic boost as a result of the purchase of supplies and the support of local businesses by the campers.

This also a fabulous opportunity for the campers to learn new construction and problem solving skills, build relationships with each other and the resident homeowners, and experience the gift of time and talent.

Please consider donating towards the construction materials!

With a minimum of $27,000 needed to purchase construction material, any donation amount is welcomed. As such, all donations are also tax deductible. Any donations at the following levels will be recognized at the worksites and in Wallingford Workcamp publicity:
