I'm raising funds to help my mom, Wallie Leek, and the current dedicated employees of BJ's Garden Inn Cafe after the devastating fire that destroyed the restaurant on 09/02/26.

For more than 40 years, my mom devoted her life to BJ's, carrying on her mother Betty Jane's legacy and serving the Du Quoin community she loved. BJ's was more than a workplace. It was a gathering place where families shared meals, traditions were built, and everyone was welcomed with kindness, warmth, and of course, my mom's delicious homemade foods.

Thankfully, everyone in the building made it out safely. But the loss of BJ's has been heartbreaking for our family and for the employees who worked there. This wasn't just the loss of a local business. It was the loss of livelihoods for my mom and the group of hardworking people who have spent years serving our community.

My mom and the BJ's staff are now facing the difficult reality of starting over and searching for new employment. This fundraiser will help provide support with living expenses and ease some of the financial burden during this uncertain time.
