Parkers Story
On the 17th February 2020 we called Shropdoc as we were concerned about Parker. We discribed his symptoms and they were very concerned. They sent an Air ambulance but at the time we were flooded so it had no where to land. They then sent a fire engine, ambalance, fire resuce boat and first responder to be able to get Parker to Telford Hospital.
On the second day he started to have seizures. These seizures were long, aggressive and really hard to get undercontrol. It was terrifying to watch him go through them and we felt completly helpless. The doctors suspected Parker had Pneumococcal Meningitis, while we waited for blood test results and a lumbar puncher Parker went in for an MRI.
We waited just outside the viewing window and watched the Doctors reactions to the MRI images. The doctor sat us down and explained that the whole of Parkers right side of his brain along with a small part of his left side had been attacked by the Meningitis infection. We didn't know what Parker was going to be like when he woke up, when he would wake or infact if.
Parker woke on the 24th February. He was really weak and it was obvious early on that the meningitis had left him with life changing effects. Parker has come so far in the last 6 months with relentless physio he has relearnt to swallow, eat, sit, roll over, commando crawl, kneel and stand aided. He still doesn't have use of his left arm and isn't able to walk. We don't know what other obsticals Parker will face in the future, we just feel incredibly lucky to still have him.
We want to give Parker every opportunity to get the therapy he needs to help him recover as much as possible. Going from seeing him running around with his friends to now not being able to absolutely breaks our heart. We would love nothing more than to be able to fund it all ourselves but with already funding Parkers physio equipment, Neuro Development appointments with Snowdrop in Devon, Hydrotherapy and weekly Physio Therapy appointments it's not something we would be able to do straight away.

Our Challenge
Walking Together
Over the next few months a team of Parkers family and friends will be covering 7500 km to raise money for Parkers treatment and the NHS.
Whether it's running, cycling, skipping or walking it will all go towards us to reaching our target.
We are going to finish the last 9miles together with a group of us climbing Snowdon.
(Because of the current situation this will be arranged when it is safe to do so).

What the money will go towards.
* Constraint Induced Movement Therapy
(To help Parker get the movement back in his left arm / hand).
* Physio Therapy
(To help with all aspects, in particular learning to walk again).
* We would absolutely LOVE to be able to give back to the NHS particularly the ward at PRH that helped Parker.
