Walking the South West Coast Path in aid of the RNLI
Hi, I’m Billy, and in mid May I am going to walk the South West Coast Path in aid of the RNLI lifeboat service. The path starts in Minehead, Somerset, then takes you 630 miles (1014km) through Devon, Cornwall and finishes in Poole, Dorset. All the while being surrounded by incredible nature and scenery, from the extreme climbs of Exmoor, to picturesque coves in Cornwall and the white cliffs leading into Dorset.
It was only natural when deciding upon a charity to support the RNLI. For the weeks that I’ll be hiking along the path, I’ll never be far from our seas and rivers, that the RNLI work so tirelessly on, to protect us.
The initial spark of inspiration to do the walk started late last summer when I read Raynor Winn’s book, The Salt Path. I was amazed by her story and felt somewhat ashamed that I live so close to the coast and yet have barely explored the cliffs and beaches close to home. So now, after waiting all winter, I’m thrilled that I can finally start this amazing adventure.
Any donations to the RNLI would be greatly appreciated by myself, the charity and by all the people they help. Also sharing this page with friends and family really helps to spread the word and raise as much money as possible.
Lastly, I will be putting updates on my blog, for anyone who is interested in following my journey. Thank you in advance to everyone who donates and supports me along this walk.
