Walking in Memory of Martin - Winter Walk 2026

In January 2026, we will all be taking part in the Ultra Challenge Winter Walk in memory of our beloved Father, Husband and Friend Martin.

For those of you who don’t know the full story, Martin has had a very difficult few years, being first diagnosed with cancer in 2023. After being successfully treated, he then sadly got diagnosed again with stage 4 oesophageal cancer last year. He took to the battle as he does with everything, with courage and pure confidence that he was going to beat this dreadful disease and have many more happy years with the friends and family he loved so much. Sadly in the later months the cancer started attacking his spine and he lost all mobility and ended up being completely wheelchair bound, preventing him from doing everything he loved.

In the last week of his life, he spent his time at Isabel Hospice and was surrounded by his family who loved him very dearly and it is here in the comfort of amazing care, that he passed away peacefully.

This walk is our way of saying thank you to Isabel Hospice, who gave Martin the most compassionate care in his final days — and who supported all of us, especially his wife Nic and daughters Francesca and Sophia, as we navigated the most heartbreaking time in our lives. Their warmth, kindness and guidance will never be forgotten.

For the incredible man who faced cancer with dignity, humour, and strength. For the father who loved deeply and lived passionately and to the fullest. And for every family who, like ours, finds themselves in need of the unwavering care and compassion that Isabel Hospice provides.

If you are able to, please donate — however small. Your support will help Isabel Hospice continue offering vital end-of-life care and support to thousands of families across the region. And if you knew Martin, or know someone who did, please share this page so we can keep his memory alive in the most meaningful way.

This Winter Walk is for Martin — and every person who needs the care of Isabel Hospice in the future.

Thank you for your donations,

Nic, Fi & Cesc
and all the family & friends who will be taking part ❤️
