Hi, My names Ellie and I’m walking 60 miles in November to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK

In June this year, unfortunately we was sat down and told the news no child ever wants to hear, Our Dad broke the news to us that he had stage 4 bowel cancer.

Those that know my dad would know how truly special he is - He’s Kind, He’s hardworking and most of all you probably all know him for the joker he is. My dad is incredibly funny, and he can light up the room just by walking into it. He never takes life too seriously and he’s the first one to put a smile on your face when you’re sad. My Dad really is one of a kind!

Having a parent having to go through cancer is an emotional rollercoaster, some days I’m okay and some days I’ll sit in my car and cry. It just feels like one huge waiting game. Waiting for results after results, waiting for the chemo to finish and then have more scans, then having to wait for those results too. All you really want is clear answers however cancer isn’t straight forward and it never will be, things can always change, and I think that’s the scariest part about it. You never really know what you’re dealing with day to day.

Throughout this whole process, my Dad has been so strong and has fought everything coming his way head on. He has never once complained and I think that’s shows how much courage he really has to fight this horrible disease. This horrible disease took our sister from us and I will not allow it to take our dad too.

So, I have decided I want to do something — however small — to make a difference. So, this November, I’ll be walking 60 miles in honour of my dad and everyone affected by bowel cancer. Every mile will be for the families and individuals affected by bowel cancer and also in memory of those who were taken too soon and of course my Dad.

If you can spare anything — whether it’s a donation or a share — it would mean the world to me and my family. Your support will help fund better treatments, earlier diagnoses, and ultimately, hope for the future.

Whilst most of the money raised will go towards supporting Bowel Cancer UK, I’d also love to use a small part of the donations to help my dad tick a few things off his bucket list. After everything he’s been through with his chemo, I would love to be able to see him just enjoy himself and have a break away from all of this. These experiences would mean so much to us and it gives My Dad and his loved ones the chance to make memories that we can cherish forever.

Thankyou so much for reading.
