Donation protected
**Please help us raise £2000 this January to fund physiotherapy sessions in a hydrotherapy pool which our star boy Guy absolutely LOVES!**
Hello and welcome to the GoFundMe page for the 2025 Walk4Guy!
Our 9th Walk4Guy is taking place on the 1st Jan 2025 and our star boy is looking forward to it!!
Back in January 2024, everyone who supported the walk helped raise an amazing £2655, and it has made such a difference!
Please read this update which explains how these funds were used and how funds raised in the 9th WalkForGuy will help Guy in 2025.
AN UPDATE ON GUY - FROM DENISE & SCOTT
Thanks to all the very generous donations last year, we have used his fund for LOADS of hydrotherapy sessions. We have been enjoying sessions as often as we can, to get him relaxed and stretched.
Unfortunately the bone scan was unsuccessful due to the number of involuntary movements that Guy had so the results couldn't be read. However it was enough to see that his bone density was horrific, and thay he was developing a Scoliosis. We went in for the first infusion for an overnight stay on Valentines day. Infusion was OK but the side effects were absolutely horrific. Always quick to bounce back he was back to his normal self within a week or so. We've had a further infusion since then with lesser side effects and an initial post infusion xray shows that his density is improving a wee bit.
We had a meeting with the consultant and the decision at the moment is to wait until he is between infusion #3&4 and attempt his surgery then. This is planned to go ahead in May!!!! We are terrified. If they can't reconstruct his hip, he will be left with a floppy leg as they will remove the socket. The thought of it makes us feel sick. We are also feeling so guilty putting him through all this again.
However, it's all for his greater good, and we can only go on the advice of the doctors. Without the walk4guy funds we wouldn't have been able to do so many hydro sessions and we may have had to have surgery sooner, so thank you for buying us this time to try to improve things for him.
As he is now a 15-year-old boy he's getting pretty heavy, and we are both now struggling to push his wheelchair on anything other than flat ground. Thanks to Walk4Guy funds, we were able to purchase a specialty power pack and additional wheel for his wheelchair which gives us a boost for uphill etc. It's a fantastic piece of kit and we are so grateful for this help. We would not have been able to afford it otherwise. Our backs are grateful too!
Every year we are so touched by everyone's support and donations to help our boy, and we would like to thank you in advance of any help. This year we will be continuing with the hydro and also some private post surgery physio for him to help with his hip and his developing scoliosis. Thank you and we hope 2025 is healthy and happy for you all. X
So that's why we are targeting £2000 this year and we really need your help. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 ...
1. Walk on the 1st January, wherever and / or whenever suits you!
2. Also please feel free to share any pictures of your walk on social media with hashtag #walk4guy2025 - we always love seeing everyone’s pictures!
3. Donate any amount, however small, and we will be forever grateful.
4. Tell your friends, family, colleagues, anyone, every walk makes a difference and every penny and pound makes a big difference.
Many thanks, from the Elliott, Dobie & Welsh clan on behalf of our dear friends Denise, Scott and Guy xxx
