Love for Leisa

Loving Leisa is a fundraiser I started to help a friend and fellow nurse during a difficult time in her life..




Leisa is an ER nurse in Texas, one of the COVID hotspots. She contracted COVID at 37 weeks pregnant while working in the ER, she was then diagnosed with cardiomyopathy as a result of the COVID virus and a week later at 38 weeks pregnant she went into labor and delivered beautiful Maren via cesarean. The day she was discharged home she started suffering from severe abdominal pain and returned to the hospital to learn that during labor and delivery she suffered from a bladder tear and she now had peritonitis which led to emergency surgery. She is home now and recovering but unable to drive. To add to her already difficult situation her husband was having an affair during this time and she is now on her own trying to survive with 5 children at home, a new baby and still suffering from the lingering effects of COVID and her postpartum complications.




Leisa is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She would do anything for anyone and never asks for anything for herself.




The hospital she is currently employed at offers no compensation for time missed from work due to COVID even if it was contracted at work. Due to that she had to use her PTO during her COVID Illness, she had 8 weeks of short term disability, which is quickly running out. She will then have to either return to work prior to the end of her maternity leave or face not being able to support her children. I would love to raise enough money for her to help cover her expenses for a month or two so she won’t have to worry about her family and hopefully be able to stay home with her new baby the full 12 weeks. She is always giving to others and now it’s time for us to give to her.
