Eagle Scout Pollinator Garden Project
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Ian Dally and I am raising money to fund a pollinator garden at All Shepherd's Lutheran Church in Lewis Center. This church sponsors my Boy Scout Troop 843.
For those who have known me for awhile, know how much I love bees. In the 4th grade, I heard about how honey bees were endangered and the risk to our global food supply if they became extinct. Since then I have been passionate about protecting bees (and hope to have my own hives someday).
I also am planning to study architecture, so when I was coming up with ideas for my Eagle Scout project, designing and building a pollinator garden was one that excited me. All Shepherd's was equally excited about the idea and they hope my garden "pollinates" other Scout's to consider adding on around their property!
The size of the garden is 20' x 10'. In addition to raising money to pay for supplies, I also plan to ask garden stores & nurseries to donate perennials that attract bees and butterflies. However, I know I will need funds to cover cost of additional flowers, fertilizer, topsoil, mulch, signage, protective fencing and drinks/snacks for volunteers.
Any donated funds that remain after all project expenses are paid will be provided to All Shepherd's to help them with any maintenance. (Although, my hope is minimal maintenance will be needed.)
I greatly appreciate your consideration and any donation is greatly appreciated. If you have perenneials from your own garden you'd like to donate, I will gladly accept those as well!
Yours in Scouts,
Ian Dally
