Hi everyone

On the 29th August, me and Antonia Lewis are climbing to the summit of Snowdon for our chosen charities!

I have chosen to raise money in support of CLAPA the Cleft Lip And Palate Association a charity close to our hearts and who have helped us as a family immeasurably. Our beautiful Maggie Mae was born on 23rd September 2020 with a unilateral cleft lip & palate, she has had 2 surgeries so far and more to come. There is a 1 in 700 chance of a child being born with a cleft and CLAPA provide parents with the information, support and so importantly the feeding materials needed such as bottle adaptations and special teats, none of which are available of the NHS so without CLAPA I don’t know what we and hundreds of other families with beautiful cleft babies would do.

CLAPA is the only UK wide voluntary organisation providing this support and reassurance to families just like us.

I am in no way a climber of mountains! So this will be a big challenge for us but for a cause I’m very passionate about.

The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) has been the only national charity dedicated to all those affected by cleft lip and/or palate in the UK. We reach out to families from the moment of diagnosis and help them through any difficulties they have before and after the birth of their child by providing a specialist feeding service as well as targeted information and a national network of trained volunteers providing lifelong one-to-one emotional support and online events.
