Fighting for Time

This is Jim and Linda Adang

Jim was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma, an inoperable, malignant brain tumor, one of the most aggressive cancers. He is in the midst of simultaneous treatments of radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and more. Jim is fighting to extend his life as long as he can to have more time with Linda, time to see his daughters’ lives develop and his grandchildren grow, time to spend with friends and other loved ones.

Many of you know Jim as a friend, relative, coworker, neighbor, fellow karaoke singer, caregiver, teacher, and ice cream maker. Jim is also our brother. What you may not know is that he is a man who has spent his life serving others. Out of high school, Jim joined the Navy where he served our country for 6 years both here and abroad. When he was honorably discharged, he went to college to receive his teaching certificate. He then spent 20+ years teaching high school science. Most recently, Jim was a CNA, caring with compassion and respect for elderly people, many with dementia. In their 40 years of marriage, Jim and Linda have given so much to others. Now is a time we can give back to them.

Because of his condition, Jim is unable to work, and Linda is needed to support him through these hard times. Meanwhile bills pile up: medical, transportation, household, and personal expenses only become more intense during a time like this. They have two cars that are both over 15 years old, and they need to upgrade to one reliable vehicle. They also need to make essential repairs to their 110 year old house. At a time like this, Jim worries more for his family than himself.

Ultimately your donations will allow Jim and his family to spend this time finding Moments of Peace—“Mopping” as they call it.
