Hi! We’re Eric and Michelle Thornhill and we have been doing little projects to enhance this neighbourhood since 2006!

We built the current Little Free Library in 2018 and it has proven to be a popular fixture in the neighbourhood on Argus Drive. We have learned a lot about outdoor construction since then and we’re ready to rebuild the library; this time a version that will (hopefully) last through all weather for years to come.

The new version will have all of the charm of the old one, plus new features such as:

1. Solid, coated cedar!

2. Latches that stay attached!

3. Doors that stay closed!

4. Windows that don’t fog up!

5. Books that stay dry!

A new library will also mean the return of neighbourhood games such as scavenger hunts and treasure maps. And of course, quality used books.

The first LFL cost us approximately $1000 which we happily paid out of pocket as a gift to the community. The new project will go ahead with or without community support, however, some people have expressed that they wish to donate to the upgraded library and make this a true community effort.

Here is a rough breakdown of the materials and costs required. Additional costs might crop up or some items might be obtained for less. If we raise more money than we use, the remainder will go toward quality high-demand used books or other neighbourhood projects such as prizes for games.
