The Giving Tree Project
Donation protected
Christmas is not only about “getting” but also “giving.”
The season of giving has been a celebrated tradition in NoMa for the past six years through Wunder Garten’s annual community-focused fundraising campaign. Called the “Giving Tree Project DC,” the program donates a portion from each tree sold on its lot to a local non-profit homeless outreach organization. This year, in addition to donations from tree purchases, the NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) is partnering with Wunder Garten to expand the program’s impact by including online donations. The goal is to raise $25,000 through GoFundMe to match the additional $25,000 in committed funding from other local businesses and organizations by January 15, 2022.
All proceeds will benefit the h3 Project, a local non-profit homeless outreach and service provider established by Dr. Ami Angell, which has been helping formerly unhoused people in NoMa settle into new homes provided through the District’s C.A.R.E. pilot program. Your donations will enable the h3 Project to purchase and provide household essentials for its clients, including kitchen utensils, small appliances, bedding, and more!
Your contributions can make an impact!
Here’s just a sample of how your donations can help make the holidays merrier for recently housed individuals this holiday season:
- $10: Cleaning Supplies
- $25: Kitchen trash can
- $50: Set of dishes & silverware for four (4) people
- $75: Christmas Tree Kit that includes a live Christmas tree, lights, and decorations
- $100: Bathroom Kit (towels, bath mat, shampoo, conditioner, plunger, toilet brush, toilet paper)
- $150: Television
- $250: Household Essentials Kit (includes bedding, cookware set, dishes, and cleaning supplies)
- $500: Laptop
