Rosie is a spunky and lively 3 year old girl. Rosie was born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF): a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. Even with all her medical hardships and treatments that have come along with this disease, she has always had a smile on her face. She is a happy and silly girl who likes to climb things and is very adventurous. She is a joy to be around!
Due to Rosie's condition, she is more susceptible to severe infections from even common bacteria and viruses. On Dec 29th, Rosie woke up with a fever. So her parents monitored her closely and continued to be diligent with her CF regimen of at-home treatment and medications. When she woke up Thursday and the fever had not broken, they decided to take her into Urgent Care to be checked out. They performed COVID, RSV, and flu tests as well as checked for an ear infection. All tests came back negative and they were sent home to continue monitoring her. After 72 hours of a continuous fever and waking up Saturday morning (1/1/22) with a swollen eye, she was brought to the Emergency Room to be evaluated. A CT scan was performed to evaluate orbital cellulitis and discovered that she essentially had a sinus infection that had gotten out-of-control. The infection had spread to her bone and tissue and needed to be removed immediately before further spread of the infection to her brain. Rosie was ambulanced to Primary Children's Hospital and was scheduled for surgery ASAP.
Brock and Kirsten have worked hard to provide for their family. They have been very blessed with a good job and family support. Due to Rosie's medical condition with Cystic Fibrosis, they already have a large financial commitment to her ongoing treatment and their health coverage has very high deductibles. With it being a new year none of these deductibles have been met, we are hoping to help cover part of these costs to ease this burden on their family.
After surgery, Rosie will be on IV antibiotics and will stay at the hospital for up to 6 weeks depending on how her recovery goes. This will be a long road for her.
Please consider donating and know that any help is appreciated.
I, Heather (Brock's twin sister), will update this page with updates of Rosie and her condition as I receive them.
