For my Eagle Scout service project, I will be constructing 180 feet of fencing along the tree-line of a cow, goat, and sheep pasture at Hoyt’s Farm Nature Preserve. Many of these animals have been abandoned, or can no longer be managed as a family pet, so the nature preserve provides a home where they can live out their lives. To commence the project, I will need to tear down decrepit fencing and an old gate, and replace them. The new fence will contain these animals when they are in the pasture and keep them safe from wandering off. The project will also incorporate a new10-foot gate as a means of egress to move the animals, and for the ranger to secure his truck during restocking and construction times.
Hoyt’s Farm has always been a special place for the members of my community, and I would like to give back to the preserve through this project. The funding I receive will be used to purchase lumber, gate materials, and tools to construct the project. Although this entails a major capital upgrade, a contribution of any size is deeply appreciated, and will enable me to organize this community service effort.
Thank you for your support of this project, and for helping me maintain a very special place in my community.
