Hello, my name is Justin Duty, and I’m reaching out because my family and I truly need help getting back on our feet.
My fiancée and I have been together for over 7 years, and we’ve been through a lot during that time. About 6 years ago, she lost her job, and it turned our lives upside down. We ended up homeless and lived out of our car for nearly 4 years. It was one of the hardest times in our lives, but we stuck together and kept pushing forward. Eventually, she was able to get a job at Burger King and worked her way up into management. She worked as long as she could, even while pregnant, until it became too difficult. Right before our daughter was born in September, we were able to move in with my mom. We’re grateful to have a roof over our heads, but with multiple people living in a small mobile home, it’s very crowded especially now with a newborn. In December, my fiancée got hired as a manager at McDonald’s, where she still works today. She’s doing everything she can to support our family. As for me, I suffered a serious back injury about 3 years ago while working, and I’ve been unable to return to work since. I’m currently in the process of getting my SSI approved, but it’s been a long wait. We’ve been trying to save money, but on a single income, it’s incredibly hard. Between caring for our daughter, keeping our car running, and covering everyday needs, it feels like we can never quite get ahead. Recently, we found a beautiful 2-bedroom, 1-bath home that would be perfect for our family. For the first time in a long time, we felt hopeful. The only thing standing in our way is the upfront cost deposit, first month’s rent, and other move-in expenses. We know we can handle the monthly rent, but coming up with everything at once feels impossible right now. I never thought I would be in a position to ask for help like this, but I’m doing it for my family. We just want a safe, stable place to raise our daughter and finally have a home of our own. If anyone can find it in their heart to help us get started, no matter how small, it would mean more to us than words can express. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and thank you to anyone who is able to help.
