Please help Me Reach Borneo – Evie age 13

Hi! My name is Evie, I’m in Year 8 at Outwood Academy, in Barnsley. In the summer 2027 I will be taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime charity expedition to Borneo with Camps International.

Alongside a small group of students, I’ll be spending four weeks in Borneo working directly with local communities, supporting important environmental and wildlife conservation projects, and challenging myself both mentally and physically – all while helping to create a positive, long-lasting impact.

What I’ll Be Doing in Borneo:

This expedition includes four key areas of work:

Community Projects – Helping build and improve schools, homes, water systems and toilets to support everyday life in rural villages.

Wildlife Conservation – Assisting with vital efforts to protect orangutans and other endangered species, and raising awareness about deforestation.

Environmental Projects – Helping reduce pollution and clean coastal areas, learning how to recycle waste plastics into items that can support local income.

Adventure – Trekking for 5 days through the untouched Bornean jungle and living completely off-grid with local people.

I will also visit the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre doing incredible work to protect wildlife.

How I’m Raising the Money:

The full cost of the expedition is around £5,200, and I am working hard to raise this through my own efforts, including:

A sponsored climb up Mount Snowdon

Doing odd jobs in my local area like babysitting, dog walking, gardening and shopping

Asking local businesses to sponsor my expedition t-shirt, which I’ll proudly wear on my walk and during the trip

Planning future fundraising events like car washes or cake sales
