My name is Jaeda Yurkiw and I am a 16 year old Grade 12 student attending Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I have a mild to moderate to severe high frequency hearing loss in both ears which was diagnosed at the age of 3 1/2 years.
I started this foundation to help children and their families living with hearing loss. My dream is to mentor young children, provide navigation and support for families, fundraise to provide hearing aids/equipment for children who otherwise would go without due to financial hardship and finally, make a donation in support of the most up to date progressive research projects available to cure hearing loss.
I have established a GoFundMe campaign which is currently running for 2018-2019. Our goal is to raise $14,000 to fund two pairs of hearing aids for BC children in need ages 4-17 years, two Rogers FM systems for preschool children, two $1000 university scholarships awarded to graduating students with hearing loss going on to post secondary education, and finally donate $5000 to the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss (SICHL). http://med.stanford.edu/hearinglosscure/
