Lindsie & Patrick’s Journey to Parenthood

Donation protected

Having a baby and growing your family is something that comes easy for some and hard for others. Some people may get pregnant the first time they try, some take multiple tries for many years, some may lose a baby along the way through miscarriage, and others may never be able to become pregnant. Despite all the uncertainties, having a child is something most couples dream about and wish for, including our sister Lindsie and her husband Patrick.

Last fall, Lindsie and Patrick went through their first round of In Vitro Fertilization . The expenses in IVF and any alternative fertility treatment are a lot to bare and unfortunately, most health insurance companies offer very little assistance, or no coverage at all, like Lindsie and Patrick’s. The IVF treatment that is needed costs $30,000+ for someone that needs to use donated eggs, egg fertilization, an embryo transfer, and extensive monitoring. That is not including the other $1,000s ($5-7,000) spent on medications. Sadly, the first round of IVF was not successful and the additional embryos a couple would typically have to spare did not survive. If embryos do survive it is another $7,000+ for each transfer after the first.

As sisters watching from the sidelines, we have seen the struggle and listened to the tearful phone calls. We have seen the road they have had to travel and the bumps they have overcome. We have seen the way Lindsie and Patrick love and spoil their nieces and nephews and hope for them to have a child of their own one day and we want to do whatever we can to help. We also hope for another niece or nephew to join our family and become a cousin to our kids as well.

Which brings us to round 2 of IVF for Lindsie and Patrick. Round 2 of choosing an egg donor. Round 2 of taking medications. Round 2 of financial expenses. Round 2 of emotions.

The emotional and physical stress of having to go through IVF is a big burden, not to mention the expenses that stack up and are continuing to grow through this second process, which is the reason for this GoFundMe post. We would love for some of the financial burden to be taken off of Lindsie and Patrick’s shoulders.

We know this journey has been hard for Lindsie to share and it feels like something that some couples may keep private. Opening up and sharing about this process might take some of the stress off of the couple, open the door for conversations with others having similar experiences, and open the door for some financial support from the family and friends that want to see them succeed in beginning their family. We want Lindsie and Patrick to know they are not alone on the journey to parenthood.

If you are able to donate to Lindsie and Patrick’s IVF fund they would be eternally grateful. All money raised will go directly to their IVF journey and any additional medical expenses that pop up along the way.

Thank you for all your love and support!

Love,
Allie & Stacie
