Hey Everyone,
My name is Vanessa Cartagena. I am a single mother of 2 beautiful children. We are currently living in New Orleans. We’re in a tough financial bind and we think you can help.
Our SUV stopped running in April and at that time the mechanic and myself thought it was an easy fix but lead us to discovering it was a bigger issue. From replacing the starter, which then lead us to checking the alarm system, to then learn the timing belt broke, which blew the motor valves. By this point, I was dipping into my savings to get her to start again. Not having a vehicle and being the only person to bring my youngest to and from daycare made it really difficult to work. I then knew, I needed to prioritize what was left in my savings to use for rent and utilities bills. I continue to look for local jobs, while my mechanic was looking for ways for me get back on the road. It’s now July and we’re still without a vehicle. I have completely depleted all my funds and I am really nervous that I won’t be able to pay august rent in time. I have never been late nor have I ever missed a payment. I understand that this is just a moment and it will pass I will not be in this situation forever. And in order to get through the bump in the road, I need to ask for support to help us get through this rough time.
My goal is to use this money for August rent, to buy a used motor for our car to get my son to and from daycare everyday, to also buy a refurbish laptop (because that’s the other thing that died on me, it’s ok she was old) so I can work remotely. And to pay my mechanic who has been so kind and understanding through whole process.
We lean to you our community, mi familia and people who do not know us, to lend us a helping hand. We will be forever grateful for any contribution that is made to us. We know times are hard for everyone and know that if you are unable contribute $$$. We are grateful in receiving your love and compassion as we get through this.
