**Update: Thank you so much for the outpouring of support. We have updated the campaign goal to try and help Katrina with the out of pocket expenses for tree removal which will be nearly $13,000 with only a portion covered by insurance. Thank you so much for all the love and support and prayers you are sending to her and her family. She has been working all week, while displaced, to serve her neighbors and community.”
Katrina's home has been destroyed by the derecho which hit Cedar Rapids on Monday, August 10th. The damage will likely result in a total loss of the house. In addition, she will incur tree removal expenses that exceed what insurance will cover by thousands.
Her family has been displaced, and they are awaiting insurance underwriting. While we hope insurance will help, immediate needs can present challenges.
If you want to contribute in any way to helping Katrina, we have set up this Go Fund Me account. Alternatively, you can reach out to Abby Clark if you prefer Katrina's Venmo information.
Katrina is a key member of the Special Markets team, she has been with Transamerica for nearly 14 years.
Pictures of her home are included. Unfortunately, so many in CR and the surrounding communities have suffered similar damage and getting contractors lined up is going to be a challenge.
Let’s hope for any silver linings from this storm including opportunities for neighbors and communities to rally around each other, and perhaps for employment opportunities and solutions to present themselves to small business owners.
