Emily Lafleur is a 43 year old wife and mother of two beautiful children aged 9 and 15, a breast cancer sufferer and one of the original Mums that Mums for Mums supported.
Emily was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 where she underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
In early 2017, 5 years after her breast cancer, Emily went into remission, unforuntatley later that same year Emily was again diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She has been on different trials between then and now, but nothing has been successful. Tragically the cancer has now spread through her bones, her lungs and her brain.
With months or even weeks to live, she will start radiation this week with the hope of helping her share a few more precious moments with her family.
Emily dearly wants to know her husband and kids are provided for when she passes so that they don’t have to move from their home, whilst grieving her death.
Emily worked full time whilst she was in remission and only recently finished working due to the aggressive advancement of her cancer. She has been trying to get a disability pension through Centre Link for the last 5 weeks, not only to help contribute to the families expenses, but also to receive a health care card that would ease the burden of her medical bills.
