At the end of the summer two Tropical Storms hit New Jersey. While most people in the area only experienced heavy rain, the impact was devastating for our dear friends, the Landskroners. Their home was destroyed and condemned.
They bought their home in East Brunswick, NJ only weeks earlier. They updated the basement and they had just settled in. Then disaster struck. The storm caused massive flooding. A storm drain in their backyard backed up, causing water to rise and hit their home with the force of a hydraulic hose, according to experts from local government who came to see it.
The Landskroners were awoken by a loud sound. Their found their basement flooded up to the first floor and gas bubbling up through the water. The force of the water and wet soil slammed through the back wall of the foundation. The foundation crumbled the full length of the house and the gas main broke. The sole support of the home was the cinder blocks supporting the chimney.
Thankfully, the family got out to safety.
The Landskroners have found solace with their friends and neighbors in East Brunswick, who have assisted in providing for their immediate needs, including a temporary home to stay in. They had hoped that insurance would cover the loss of their home but their claim was denied, nothing is covered. They are left with a uninhabitable home and the need to rebuild.
That is why we, their friends from across the community, are asking for your support to help them rebuild their home and their lives.
We urge you to help a family in need. They appreciate all help, in whichever amounts, via this GoFundMe. Please give what you can for this wonderful family.
