Dear Community Member,
As you may know, the current Middle School is over 60 years old and is no longer able to meet the needs of our students, nor does it provide modern facilities for our students to thrive in today’s educational environment.
MAY 20TH - VOTE TO BUILD A NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL - The Board approved a referendum to appear on the May 20th ballot to construct a new Middle School that will be designed to support the academic and after school needs of over 2,000 students in Grades 6-8.
OUR CHANCE TO REPLACE OUR AGING MIDDLE SCHOOL- If approved by voters, the new facility will:
- Have more efficient air and heating units along with accessible plumbing;
- Meet modern building code and address ADA standards;
- Have classrooms designed for the ways that teachers teach today, not in 1960s;
- Kitchens and cafeterias to accommodate and serve more than 2000 students and staff efficiently.
THIS WILL TAKE A LOT OF VOTERS. Your donation will help us reach school supporters and likely voters — there are 44,000 voters in this school district, and on May 20th, we will need many of those votersto VOTE YES TO INVEST. We need to run a campaign here in Abington dedicated to raising awareness about the referendum to ensure voters are informed and that they turn out and vote. Funds raised will help the Committee:
- $25 will provide flyers and printed materials to distribute to local residents;
- $50 will fund digital advertising to reach voters online through social media and texting;
- $100 will support large scale outreach efforts, such as direct mail campaigns.

THERE IS NO PLAN B. If this referendum is defeated, we will keep pouring money into a middle school that desperately needs replacing. That money can be used to keep an old school alive, or it can be used for classroom education in a new school designed for today’s education.
