Songwriter Myles Gaffney will represent Cork in the Munster Battle of the Ballad's Competition.
Myles has penned a new track titled " Where Were You When You Were 21" which tells the story of Volunteer Dan Harrington from Passage West in Co.Cork.
For hundred's of years the stories of Ireland have been carried through the power of the Ballad singer and it's the aim of this competition to remember our national hero's with 6 new song's about our patriot dead from 1916 to the present day.
The proceed's from Myles entry into this competition will benefit the Phoenix Historical Society Cork .
The Phoenix Historical Society is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of the men and women who died for an Irish Republic,promoting their ideal's and honouring their sacrifice by holding commemorations and other events.
This society recently published a booklet "The Secret of Our Strength", which details the 61 IRA Volunteer's buried in the Republican Plot at St Finbarr's Cemetery, Cork.
A donation of €1 equal's 1 VOTE and there is no limit on the number of Vote's per person.
VOTING WILL COMMENCE ON SEPT 3RD 2O21 and Will Be Open For A 4 Week Period.
